how can we make our recorded music sound like pro quality?
Our band has recorded some songs in a multitrack studio. The recording engineer did a good job in balancing (mixing) the instruments and the vocal tracks. But when I got home and compared it with a commercial CD album, I noticed that our sound quality still needs improvement.
What else could be missing?
It depends what your sound engineer did! The really classic old school (and better) way of mixing is to keep the median of the sound volume as close to the 0 dB threshold as possible, with minimal compression only as needed for the really loud parts. This allows for the best sonic reproduction, and if people want to crank up the bass or treble, there’s room to grow. But it means the overall volume of the tracks is actually sort of low.
During the 90’s, it become more common to crank everything up full core. The bottom end got louder and there was a LOT of compression on the high end. This makes the overall sound of the CD very loud, but it actually crushes a lot of the sonic brilliance.
With the switchover to MP3’s, a lot of CD’s mixed that way are sounding really muddy as MP3’s. The compression on top of compression just destroys the sound overall, and what people end up hearing on the MP3 is terrible compared to the original CD (which is an excellent case for buying the actual CD for the songs you really like). So better engineers are returning to the classic mix styles.
So this is why you play one CD and it is really loud, while another CD is really low.
Sound quality overall depends on where the CD will be played. Engineers need to consider: is it for FM radio, AM radio (not any more, but older CD’s had to consider it!), MP3 players, high-end systems, car trunk systems (heavy bass), headphones, etc. All of those require different sonic footprints, and the engineer has to strike a reasonable balance.
Honestly, if you really feel something is “missing”, bring it back to the engineer and ask him about it. They would rather have you come back and give it a fresh listen, maybe tweak a couple of things OR convince you that it’s good the way it is, rather than you being forever disappointed with the sound. Once you send that master off for “print”, that’s it.

Perhaps the most efficient way of evaluating Vietnam is to consider key dimensions which themselves are composites of multiple factors. Composite portfolio approaches have long been used by strategic planners. The biggest challenge in this approach is to choose the appropriate factors that are the most relevant to international planning. The two measures of greatest relevance to industrial air quality management are “latent demand” and “market accessibility”. The figure below summarizes the key dimensions and recommendations of such an approach. Using these two composites, one can prioritize all countries of the world. Countries of high latent demand and high relative accessibility (e.g. easier entry for one firm compared to other firms) are given highest priority. The figure below shows two different scenarios. Accessibility is defined as a firm’s ease of entering or supplying from or to a market (the “supply side”), and latent demand is an indicator of the potential in serving from or to the market (the “demand side”). Framework for Prioritizing Countries. Demand/Market Potential Driven Firm. Relative Accessibility. Accessibility/Supply Averse Firm. In the top figure, the firm is driven by market potential, whereas the bottom figure represents a firm that is driven by costs or by an aversion to difficult markets. This report treats the reader as coming from a “generic firm” approaching the global market – neither a market-driven nor a cost-driven company. How To Choose Ladies Ski Boots
The ski season is here again and it is time to start buying your ski gear for your upcoming vacation. Along with your skis, ski boots are something that you need to pay particular attention to.
Ladies ski boots are available in many colors, shapes and styles, and so you will be somewhat spoilt for choice. In fact, if you have a little look around next time you go skiing, you will quickly realize just how many variations of ladies ski boots that there are.
However, though you will want some style in your ski boots, never let that be the determining factor. If you do that, you will start to regret the decision within hours of hitting the slopes.
The first step in choosing ski boots is to consider your size. Fortunately, this is not difficult at all as a result of the universal sizing system that it was deemed necessary to create to overcome the issue of different countries using different sizing systems.
The name of this universal sizing system for ski boots is called the the mondopoint chart system. The system works by applying a worldwide sizing procedure that takes into account the most common boot sizes across the world.
The next issue is the general fit and feel of the ski boot. When fitting a ski boot in a shop, you must make sure that your foot is held securely. It must not feel either too loose or too tight. You should get a feel for the boots by walking up and down in them whilst in the store.
Ask to try another pair if you do not feel 100% right in the pair you are currently trying. Any pain or pressure is something that will only get worse when you have to keep them on all day. You should feel secure in them, yet still be able to move your heel and toes without difficulty. If the boot feels like a part of your foot, then it is the right size.
Also, remember that when checking if your ski boots fit properly, that you must try them on whilst wearing socks. Ski socks should be used. Wearing socks ensures that an a little extra space allowance is provided. Actually, good ski boots should fit well with socks on and off, but it is always best to be sure.
