Can you put an english broken horse in a western saddle?
If i put an appaloosa that has been broken into english, into a western Stock Saddle, but still use the same aids as english riding, will my horse react? i mean ill still be riding the english way, but ill just have a stock saddle. Is this OK?
some horse don’t care but others will notice the slight difference. Western saddles are heavier & distribute the weight over the back more evenly but it will fell different to a horse…put the saddle on, then turn the horse loose in a round pen or put on a lunge line & let them trot & canter w/it…if they’re going to react at least you won’t be on…then get on and try not to move around too much for the 1st few minutes….shouldn’t take more than 20-30 min for the horse to get used to the feel. Most horses like western saddles better because of the better weight distribution…

Poly Lead
Which major should I look into? Poly sci or Neuroscience?
I am stuck between two professions: law and science. I have won regional and state science competitions, but at the same time, I am a lead debater and have typical personality traits of a lawyer (argumentitive, logical, cynical, outspoken). And I am interested in political science, but the political leanings at most universities won’t be in my favor (I’m a Conservative). And I am not very good at math, physics, or chemistry. I typical get B-/C+ grades in honors math, physics, and chem. So, do you think I would suceed more as a political science major or as a science major (neuroscience)? Considering that these two subjects are completeley unrelated, I need to make up my mind before it’s time to submit college apps..
I’m currently majoring in neuroscience so I’ll give you my advice on that area and the best advice I can give you on law.
When it comes to neuroscience you need to be proficient in biology and psychology and competent in chemistry. Math and physics don’t really matter. As long as you can do stats, pass calculus, and do electrophysics problems you’re fine in those two areas. I say you need to be competent in chemistry because you’ll be encountering a fair amount of chemical concepts in your biology courses and you’ll need to take at least two year-long chemistry sequences (general chemistry and organic chemistry). That number can be as high as five depending on where you apply (gen chem, organic chem, biochem, physical chem, and inorganic chem).
Did you get the C+/B- in chemistry because you were lazy or because you found it too difficult? If it’s because of the former you’ll need to get into shape when you get to college but otherwise you should be fine. If it’s because of the latter I would suggest avoiding neuroscience because the difficulty level of the chemistry classes after general chemistry skyrockets so anyone who had trouble in gen chem (which is a bit harder than high school chem) usually don’t make it much farther.
As for law, you don’t need to major in poly sci if you don’t want to. One of the most common major choices for students hoping to apply to law school is philosophy (supposedly the logic skills you learn in that major are very useful for the MCAT). Actually, law schools don’t require any particular major, just certain classes. As long as you take the needed classes you can major in whatever you want. So it’s actually possible for you to major in neuroscience and go to law school if you want.
What you really should be asking yourself is what you want to do for a career. Choose your major based off of that.
